Over 200 million women have had FGM, and 4 million are at risk every year.
At Gudiin, we believe that teaching children about bodily autonomy and women's rights is a matter of education and a vital foundation for a just and equitable future. By introducing these concepts early on, we empower kids with the knowledge and confidence to respect themselves and others. Understanding bodily autonomy helps children recognize their own boundaries and those of others, fostering mutual respect and reducing potential abuse. Moreover, by integrating lessons on women's rights, we instill a sense of equality and justice from a young age, preparing future generations to challenge discrimination and champion fairness.Â
Gudiin developed a brochure to help FGM survivors navigate pregnancy with talking points to utilize in discussing their care with their birth providers. This brochure will provide a delicate way to broach the anxiety and uncertainty that FGM survivors have. Acknowledging that many birth providers may feel uncertain about how best to care for affected patients, this brochure will empower survivors with knowledge of what support and care they can expect, fostering a more confident and informed dialogue.
